For the last time, I filled out the school calendar. For the past 10 years, I have used a calendar that runs August to August. It’s a good calendar, and I put everything in before the school year starts.
This year, I filled it out all the way to December of 2020. Because I won’t buy a new one in August of next year. Next year at this time my daughter will be off to college.
It’s a bit sad. It’s her last year of school, her last year at home. Instead of the first in her life we are now celebrating the lasts: the last first day of high school, the last school picture, the last school supply list.
While I am proud of her and who she has become, her childhood really did fly by. And I will miss her next year.
