On a recent road trip, I saw two funny signs that made me pause:
Speed Enforced By Aircraft
This one, found in Pennsylvania, made me think: what about speed can be enforced? This makes no sense to me whatever.
The next one, found in my home state, made me laugh:
Speed Limit Enforced By Aircraft
OK, this one makes sense. But honestly, what can an aircraft do about making sure cars don’t speed on the ground? After all, “enforced” means “compel”. So how can an aircraft compel me not to speed?
I don’t know about you, but I get visions of machine gun strafing or bombing. Seems a little bit over the top for speeding, in my book.
