Dog Walking Etiquette

This has bothered me for some time, I will admit.

When I am out walking the dog, we are walking around the neighborhood, and we see a lot of people we know.

At the same time, I am usually carrying the leash in one hand, and a “little blue bag of success” in the other.

So when a neighbor drives by, am I supposed to:

  • Wave the leash?
  • Juggle the excrement bag and the leash to give me a free hand?
  • Or wave the bag of poop?

It has puzzled me. The first option leads to finger cramps; the second leads to me inevitably dropping something and looking foolish. And the third? Well, it’s just gross.

Do you think I should write Miss Manners about this?
